Halibut fishing in Kyuquot sound is very productive, you can expect to catch your limit. We are very selective in the halibut that we keep, the ones we try and keep are generally 35-75 pounds. Anchoring up on our favourite hotspots allows us to be selective as the fish come to us. In recent years it has become politically incorrect to kill halibut that are well over 100 pounds so we generally release these at the boat – unless the guest wants to keep one. With the halibut limit only being two, we like to make sure the two halibut you are taking home are really nice size and quality.

We fish for halibut from 120 feet to 220 feet and occasionally, but not often, we will fish 280 to 300 feet. Our gear is top quality -Penn Torque rods and Penn International two speed reels. This gear makes all the difference when playing a fish or checking the bait from any depth.

All of our halibut fishing is within 10 miles from the lodge.
